Notched probes monitor the temperature of high-power motor windings
In very high-power engines, alternators or generators (several tens of megawatts), stator windings are subject to significant thermal heating. These can cause premature wear of the motors or lead to lower machine efficiency.
To easily detect all heating in the motor stator and ensure consistent thermal monitoring, Mesurex has developed the LE1 notched PT100 probe.
This probe is the result of a long R&D process to select: the appropriate insulators (multilayer Teflon or Kapton), a specific Epoxy wafer (with resistance up to 180 °C), suitable connecting wires (in 3 or 4 wires). The prototype has also been subjected to numerous temperature tests (0 °C to 100 °C) and insulation tests to ensure perfect operation at 5kV.
Mesurex’s LE1 final product can measure a temperature from -20 °C to 180 °C. Its dimensional characteristics (flat, thin, rectangular with a long sensitive area) allow it to be easily placed in the stator notches of motors to easily detect all heating.
These products comply with the PT100 NF EN 60751 standard, and the EDF HN-51-S-01 specification.
Various sizes are possible as standard, depending on the insulation voltage required: 80mm x 10mm x 2.5mm (5000V) ■ 80mm x 7.5mm x 2mm (3000V) ■ 50mm x 8mm x 2mm (3000V) ■ 50mm x 5mm x 2mm (3000V) ■ 80mm x 8.3mm x 2.5mm (5000V), but the formats are also customizable according to the client’s needs.
Mesurex takes particular care during the assembly phase to avoid any problems with resistance in subsequent isolation. In addition, in its metrology laboratory, Mesurex carries out dielectric tests on each probe to validate its resistance in isolation. Each probe is delivered with its own calibration report and test certificate (temperature reading, validation of the dielectric test, dimensional test, etc.).
