In surgery, repeated use of the same drill bit during a bone drilling can lead to significant increase in heat because of friction, which is harmful to the bone. 72 trials were performed on bovine bones to assess the impact of this heating on the bone. The sensors provided by @MESUREX (ultra-miniature Ø.5mm, T-type thermocouples – see product) made it possible to accurately measure the implications as a function of drilling times and drilling force.
