How to choose the rigth thermocouple?

Most industry segments (manufacturing, energy, research, telecom, insurance, agriculture…) need to monitor and control temperatures. Among the many temperature measurement sensors, the thermocouple is surely the most commonly used product, as it offers good accuracy while remaining very affordable.
Given the multitude of variants, shapes, protective tubes…, it is not always easy to make a choice about which thermocouple type to use.
Above all, it is necessary to ask the right questions:
- What is my operating temperature (thermocouples can measure temperatures from -200°C to +1700°C)?
- What is the measurement environment (liquid/solid/gaseous environment, chemically aggressive environment, extreme conditions…)?
- What is the desired level of accuracy? What space is available to carry out these measurements?…
